Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL) Resource Sharing Policy

1- Only academic and administrative staff of Kayseri University can benefit from this service. Our readers are required to fill out the ILL request form by coming to the library or online. The requested publications are picked up from the Central Library and returned to the Central Library. The rules of the library from which the publication is borrowed apply to the borrowing service.

2- Before making a request, it should be checked whether the book is available in the collection of Kayseri University Libraries through the Library Automation System.

a) Reference works (dictionary, encyclopedia, index, etc.),

b) Periodicals (magazine, newspaper, news bulletin, etc.),

c) Textbooks,

d) Reserved books,

e) Printed or non-printed undergraduate and graduate theses,

f) Audio-visual materials such as atlas, map, film, slide, etc.

g) Rare books are not lent.

3- Interlibrary loan officers from other university libraries who wish to borrow books from Kayseri University Libraries must submit their requests to Kayseri University Libraries (relevant faculty/institute libraries) by entering them into the Interlibrary Cooperation Tracking System (KITS) program.

4- A maximum of 3 books can be lent to university and research institution libraries for a period of 30 days.

5- The loan period of borrowed books can be extended once if there is no reservation/hold on the book.

6- If there are overdue books in the account of the borrowing library, new requests from that library will not be processed.

7- Borrowed publications must be returned to the library 3 days before the due date.

8- A daily overdue fine is applied for each book that is returned past the due date.

9- A reminder email is sent to the library with overdue books in their account. If the books are not returned despite the reminders, the lost book procedure is applied, and no new requests from that library are processed until the specified fine is paid.

10- The requesting library is responsible for any damages that may occur during the use of the books (overdue return, damage, and -including shipping- loss).

11- The library wishing to borrow books from Kayseri University Libraries is deemed to have accepted the relevant articles of the Kayseri University Libraries Regulation on overdue fines and lost books.

12- The requesting library is responsible for paying the shipping fees for both sending and returning the books.
